やっぱりまだです。

という事。

あーだこーだ言いながら、けじめ付けないと・・・と思って決心した帰国をやっぱり延長する事になった。
始めは6月いっぱいでって事だったんだけど、まだ香港でやらないといけない事、やっとくべき事、やりたい事が多すぎる、あと2ヶ月じゃ無理。
で、今回家族会議で色々話し合った結果、「とりあえず夏帰国」という運びに。
まぁ、7月いっぱい、最長でお盆前くらいまでで帰国という感じになりそう。
これは確実。
まずは親に感謝。（申し訳ないという気持ちの方が強いけど。）


それにしても今回帰って来て良かった。


Asian Forceにしても、Kieth Flackのレギュラー復帰の話にしても、帰国後の希望はちゃんと出来たし。
温泉ではガッツリ癒されたし、超久々に会った従兄弟や親戚とも良い話が出来たし。

おかげで残りの香港生活を超ポジティヴに満喫出来そうな気がします。
いやー、確実にするでしょう。


帰ったらすぐにAsian Forceのポスター刷ってプロモーション開始。
金曜WhotelでDJ再開、土曜は早い時間にAdidasでDJして、John Digweedのパーティー行って、日曜はMacroy presents. the Notorious Junk Party。
（土曜朝まで踊って日曜の昼から船でパーチー、ハーコーすぎる！）

その翌週末はもうAsian Forceで地元福岡より4人のDJが来港。
その次の週はG&GでDJ Freedom Chickenが登場。
休む暇なさそー！！！

それに北京と台湾にもいかなやし、ダラダラしてる暇ない。


まー相変わらずレコード＆CDだけはガッツリ買ったのでこれからのプレイに乞うご期待！！！

positive extension !!!!

after considering my situation..... i will extend my stay in hk for a month until end of july to early in august... yes, i don't wanna leave hk yet !!!

but not only by my selfishness, i've made my mind to come back to hk for a few days in the end of july anyway.
for a wedding party which i don't know any details yet, my bro kiyo may have a big party as well, also need to celebrate a big birthday, wanna go to taiwan & beijing, have to save money for shipping back my fucking vinyls to japan.....

i don't think i can complete all my mission in 2months !!!!!!!!
and i still have to make more junk trip and beach party, faaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrck !!!!!!!!!

so we'll see how i can keep my arse in the kong.... gonna make it for real.



and one more luck.
i had some serious meeting with asian force crew in fukuoka and saw the light in my future.
seems i got a big mission in my home.
it means we'll make it closer between japan and hk, china, asia.
already started to move for next asian force coming in this september and i'm gonna look for more place and talent for next year.
i'm serious, and keep thinking how i can break the fucking shitty situation in japan.

japan..... may be only a country which has tons of talent everywhere but all djs are spending money for party but never get.
only some big names in tokyo or somewhere does but mostly grabbed by cheesy asshole.
and of coz economy and politics is straight to the end which i've never seen in my life.
can't expect anything for this country but their music, art, fasion, food.....culture could make something happened in the world still. (or even more !!!)
it's about the time to move for our generation, hell yes.


also i may come back to my home in fukuoka "kieth flack" pretty soon.
happy to hear some frds who i respect asked me to join a party. then why not?
line up is guaranteed, and i'll be happy if i can play for 2hours at least.
the thing i'm afraid most is there are still too many party which has many djs for selling tickets and each dj plays only for an hour or less... now i say i'll never back to that kind of party anymore.
a good dance music party should be played by 2 or 3 of good djs for over 3hours who can build up groove and make some story thru the night.
even with good frds, i don't want it as a regular anymore, just sometimes for fun, more than enough.

AFHK motherfxxking techno explosion !!!!!

Last summer a sonic boom hit Fukuoka, spreading electro shockwaves over the southwest Japanese city. The source of these explosive frequencies was ASIAN FORCE – and now it’s Hong Kong’s turn to feel the heat

Leading representatives of the Hong Kong electronic dance music scene Dan F (Disuye/Yumla) and Frankie Lam (Intermix/Yumla) were invited last July to conduct an audio assault, and appeared at the first ASIAN FORCE event alongside top DJs from the techno scene in the Kyushu area

With support from famous dub soundsystem Red I Sound and many local businesses, the event filled AIR FUKUOKA to the rafters and exposed 300 dance music freaks to a low-frequency attack that continued until late in the morning

Next month, the audio earthquake will hit in Hong Kong when four top DJs from Fukuoka arrive for TWO NIGHTS of explosive electronic music from minimal and tech house to deep techno and uplifting electro house

Montea’s musical history stretches back to when he started to play the violin at the age of 4. After becoming the bassist in a rock band when he was 18, he became fascinated with DJing and immersed himself in dance music culture. It was a sensible move, as the DJ has since earned supporting slots for massive names such as Derrick May, Chris Liebing, Takkyu Ishino, Ken Ishii, Fumiya Tanaka, Shin Nishimura and Kitsune, playing more than 120 gigs in 2005 alone! He blends techno, minimal, tribal and funky electro house to create a musical story which takes crowds in many directions – but always with a happy ending. Also as the organizer of Kyushu Force events, which have been running for four years in Fukuoka, he handles DJing, organisation, artwork as well as promotion. This year Montea launched the "KSF" label to encourage young talent in the city and also promote local artists and release their works. Montea is dedicated to connecting the dance music scenes of Asia and Fukuoka – which is the closest entry point to Asia in Japan

DJ Atsushi (Fukuoka, Japan)

After a trip to Koh Pha Ngan in Thailand, 18-year-old Japanese traveler Atsushi was blown away by electronic dance music. He felt the atmosphere when space and sound resonated deep inside him and after returning to Japan Atsushi launched his DJ career to express himself. He plays techno, tech house and house, and has also emerged as a new production talent in Fukuoka. He emerged from the underground dance music scene and his style of music is beyond categorisation. Ko*Hayashi entered club and dance music culture sometime in 1996. And this impressive first experience inspired him to launch his DJ career, combining techno, house, electro and breaks with scratching and an extraordinary ability to rock the dancefloor. He draws no boundaries between musical styles and has earned huge support from audience and DJs not only in Fukuoka where he lives but many other cities throughout Japan. He builds up grooves and leads crowds towards peaktime with a creative and imaginative style. He only played 180 gigs in 1 year, and regularly performs more than 100 gigs annually in Fukuoka, Tokyo and all over Japan. His passion, skill and experience has taken him to overseas clubs in Canada and Hong Kong and last year he entered music production, releasing the mix CD "Diskover" last year which included an original track

DJ T.B. (Otonoha / Fukuoka, Japan)

T.B. started DJing while at university and eventually devoted himself solely to electronica, techno and house.
Now he is highly conscious of the components which form the foundation of minimal music. While the atmosphere of dance floors changes, and ideas such as contingency and sustainability are found only in the moment, T.B. is constantly trying to convert these intangible elements into live grooves. It may sound quite limited and simple, but don’t be fooled – T.B. is a versatile DJ who has collaborated with many DJs, artists, producers. As an event organiser, T.B. leads the minimal / techno / electronica scene in Fukuoka with his party "Otonoha" which has been held for over 8 years. And check out some of the big names he’s appeared with – Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Michael Mayer, Cassy, Radio Slave, Roman Flugel and many more. This year he launched two new events, "Rhythm" and "Underbar", in Fukuoka and has released tracks on his label, Otonoha. A new track with Kentaro Iwaki – aka Dub Archanoid Trim – will be out this year

あと残り3ヶ月。

もうちょっと、もうちょっと・・・と言いながら、結局3年半というタイミングで香港での生活に別れを告げ、地元福岡に帰国が決定。
帰国は6月末、もう残り3ヶ月弱。

正直まだ日本には帰りたくないのが本音だけど、家族の事もあるのでここはもう言い訳なしに諦めて引き上げるタイミングかなと。
つーか、自分にそう言い聞かせる以外ない。

それにしても初めてこっちに来た時よりもナーバスになるのは何でだろう？
大分緊張する。


大学卒業後、アメリカ留学を考え直して地元で某家電量販店に就職。（もはや懐かしい話）
「福岡でDJ続けれるやん，仕事終わって親富孝通りまで10分やん。」ぐらいの気持ちでさくっと決めた仕事を結局3年と4ヶ月続けた。
今思い返すだけで自分でも笑ってしまうけど、本当によくあんな生活やってたな、と。
朝までDJして、酒飲んで、遊んで、始発で帰って数時間だけ寝て仕事なんてしょっちゅう。
ヘタしたらパーティー後、どっかでシャワーだけ浴びてそのまま寝ずに仕事なんて事も結構あった。
知る人ぞ知るレジェンドは「NYEのカウントダウン後撃沈、カールスバーグの樽とグルグル巻き」で捕われたイラン兵みたいになった後に朝8時から初売り・・・社会人として最もハーコーな瞬間だったかもしれない。

そんなこんな20代中盤を過ごしつつも、ストレスフルで楽しくない仕事の環境に（今思えばある意味良かった？！）別れを告げたのが2006年の夏。
しばらくブラブラしつつも、叔父の紹介により香港でアパレル関係の貿易をやってる会社で1年くらい勉強させてもらえるという話をもらって、即決。
「海外住めるのいいやん」くらいのノリで11月、26歳の誕生日の直後に単身で香港へ。
出発当日にDecadent DeluxeにTheo Parrishってのが超落ちた。


香港に来てから、最初は昼間はオフィスでパッキングや雑用の手伝い。
仕事の後はデジカメ持って独りでひらすら街を徘徊。
1ヶ月くらいでLan Kwai Fongに足を伸ばす様になり、間もなくYumlaを発見。
その頃はまだ友達らしい友達もそんなにいなかったんだけど、Yumlaに通い出して生活が急変。
すぐにDJや常連の連中と仲良くなってつるみ出し、毎週水曜、金曜、土曜と通う度に色んな人間に会い、日に日に友達が増えて行くのが楽しくてしょうがなかった。
その反面、昼の仕事では相変わらず何も新しい事をさせてもらえない、退屈極まりない日々が続き、日本で頑張って働いてる同世代にかなり置いてかれてく感が高まる。

そのうち日本人の友達も出来て、何気にDJをする事になる。
最初はヒロさんに誘われてLammaの発電所横のビーチでプレイ。
久々にDJしたのもあって、かなりアッパーなプレイしたんだけど、それがたまたまウケたようで島の連中や、遊びに来てる人らにともすっかり仲良くなった。
それ以降は、今はNYCに住んでるTottiが誘ってくれてクラブとかバーでもちょくちょくDJさせてもらった。（思えば最初にDJした時にもらった$500は、それまでにDJしてもらった最高額だった。笑）
そしてTottiが引っ越すくらいのタイミングでVolarでレギュラーが決定。
今思えば自分がVolarでなんて軽く笑いが出そうな話だけど、一応サイズは結構大きな店で、外国人のモデルとか、芸能人とかが出入りしてる人気の店だったので、周りからはビックリされた。
たまには入れ替えで1000人以上入った日もあったみたいだったし、始めの方は結構楽しんでた。

後々はブッキングエージェントとして日本からゲストを呼んだりもして仕事でもお世話になったけど、やっぱりコマーシャルな店だったので後ほどそのパーティーも自然消滅。
最後の方はメインストリームのHiphop, Electroばっかりなので自分も全然興味なくなってたし、その後もよっぽど何かのついでとかでない限りは行く機会のない店になってしまったけど。


話は戻り、まぁしばらく面白くない昼の仕事を続けながらも、ナイトライフだけはしっかり満喫してて、週末大分楽しんでた。
Dragon-iではNYC系のゲストDJが来てる時に遊び行って、オーナーやDJとも仲良くなる。
そういう音楽を通しての友達がいなければ、自分みたいなやつはまず縁のない様な店だけど。
他にもアフターアワーズ向けのBuddha Loungeとか、日本人の友達がよく飲んでたLinqとかでよく遊んでたかも。
Lammaで2回嵐の中パーティーをやって、コアなパーティーフリーク達と仲良くなったのもその頃。

夜遊びに関しては飲み込みが早かったかもしれないけど、昼の仕事は大した進歩が出来ずというか、元々3人とかで回ってた会社なのでやる事がなかったのもあって、フラストレーションがたまる毎日。
金もない、やることもない、でも何かもうちょっと香港いたい・・・的な状態が続きながらも2008年にそこを辞める事に。


それ以降はDJバッグを作ってた友達のマーケティングの手伝いをする事を決めるが、完全に歩合制で、他の仕事に対しての給料を払ってくれなかったのですぐに辞めた。
DMRとかにも卸したけど、結局費やした時間と労力の事を考えると今でも割に合わない仕事だった。
ちなみにそいつからはJoe Clausellの為に作った非売品のDJバッグを給料の代わりに強奪。笑
確かその頃にBAPEのパーティーでMuroさんと高木完さんとプレイ。


そしてその後数ヶ月はBuddha Loungeで週2，3でDJさせてもらい、それだけで食いつなぐも、そこでずっとやってる別のDJが専属で入る事になりまたプーに。


で、夏からDJ兼プロモーターとして働く事になり、Volar、Dragon-iにゲストを紹介したり、沖縄料理の「えん」や友達のネイルサロンでDJしたりとかしたけど、週末もオフィスから出なかったり、レイジーな生活が続いた。
何気にKitsuneのサポートや、有名アパレルブランドやセレクトショップのパーティーでDJもしたけど、それは全て会社じゃなくて自分の友人から来た話で、今思えば会社からそういう仕事をもらった事は一度もなかった。
何気に別の話から沖縄に行けたり、前にゲストで呼んだ方が神戸に呼び返してくれたりしたけど、やっぱりブッキングもプロモーションもほとんど自分でやって、なのに手元に残る額がこれだけじゃ生活して行けない・・・更には上の人と考えが合わずに口論になる事も増えて最終的にはFucked Up、2009年の5月に辞めた。最後4月分の給料はくれなかった。
超腐ってた時期だけど、やっぱり暖かい友達の励ましもあって、まだ日本には帰りたくなかった。

その後色んな知り合いに聞き回って何とか見つけたラウンジでのDJの仕事も、その店のオーナーが大分自己中なヤクザだったのと、そのグループが新しいレストランを出して予算が足りなくなった為にあっさり1ヶ月ちょいで契約切れ。

この時が一番辛かった。
1日40ドル使えるかどうか、家に引き蘢り、ひたすらDJの仕事を探しても、ドルが激落ちしてた頃でどこのクラブも経営が厳しくなって全然反応なし。
更に自分の立場上、話が出来ない店やプロダクションも多く、厳しい1ヶ月が続いた。
初めて家賃を払う金がなくて人に借りた。
もうこのままどうにもこうにもならなかったら、日本に帰るしかないと思ったけど、完全なLoserとして帰るのだけは絶対嫌だった。


福岡でのAsian Forceの為に一時帰国して帰って来てからは、香港での兄貴分の紹介で日本食の貿易をやってる商社でバイトさせてもらう事になった。
儲かってる会社だったけど、社長だけでなくオフィスの人間も皆エグイ感じで環境は最悪。
更に自分だけDJとバランスを取りながらのイレギュラーなシフトだったので同僚がよく思わず、給料も下げられたり、余計に働かされたりもしたけど、その頃はとにかく生活費貯めて貯金する事しか頭になかったので気にしなかった。
平日面白い事がないのは始めからそうだったから、少なくとも口座の中の金額が増えて行くのは嬉しくてしょうがなかった。

生活に余裕が出て来ると、DJも楽しんでやれる様になり、いつの間にかレギュラーの話や単発の話もどんどん入って来る様になった。
本当に自分の人生タイミング悪い事ばかりで、仕事が欲しい時には全然なくて、昼の仕事と掛け持ちで忙しくなり出してから、引き受けれないくらいに話が来たり。
1本分のギャラが生活を左右してたくらいなので、本当に何とかなって良かった。

という訳で2009年後半は、初めてまともな生活が出来て、「これからあんな事したい、こういう事を将来やりたい」みたいな意欲が湧いて来た頃。
DJもバンバンやりながら日本のサラリーマンと変わらないくらいの収入を得れる様になった。
正に3年間かけてやっとここまで来れたという時期。





そして正月明けに実家からの電話で、急遽帰国を決断する事に・・・。
やっとここまで来たのに？！タイミング悪い事この上ない。
でも理由が理由だからもう仕方がない。
残り半年間の生活を満喫しながら、日本に帰って何するか考えないとと悩み出す。

それとは裏腹に今年からはAdidas、Whotelでの毎週レギュラー、Yumlaでの隔月レギュラー、Linq、Armani Bar、East Hotelなどの単発に加えて、自分自身がオーガナイズするパーティーのMacroyも始動。

何とかDJだけでも食って行けるまでになって、更に金銭面だけでなく本当にクオリティを追求するパーティーで勝負しようっていう気合いも充分だった。




始めは「このまま手ぶらじゃ帰れない」
そして今「やっとここまで来たのに帰らないといけない」
しんどい事極まりない。
香港でもっと頑張りたい、日本にはまだ帰りたくないという本音・・・。



香港のクラブシーンも厳しいけど、まだ職業として成り立つし、一応ここではそういうとこまで来れた。
日本はDJで食っていこうなんて夢のまた夢。
これから帰って仕事探さないといけないけど、自分のアドバンテージって英語話せるくらい？
日本でのブランク4年間、就職歴3年4ヶ月。今年で30歳。
そしてこの不景気＋雇用率最悪の状態。かなり無理のある展開。

もちろん、帰国後はDJもする気マンマンだし、昼もちゃんとした仕事しないといけないけど、生活のギャップに大分ビビり気味。
まずはこういう自分みたいな例外を受け入れてくれそうな仕事探さないと・・・・・。



でもあと残り3ヶ月でAsian Force in HKもやるし、上海にも行くし、帰国前には北京とかにも行くつもり。
あとまたビザも申請して、今後も仕事持って帰って来たり、DJしに帰って来る予定。



残り3ヶ月・・・香港での最後の生活を満喫したい自分と、日本での新しい生活に備えないといけない自分が見え隠れ。


とりあえず法事で今月21日か22日に一時帰国するのでしっかり街を見直してみよう。
これからまた住む事になる福岡。
3、4年も経てばもう夜遊ばなくなった人もいるだろうし、パーティー行っても知らない人大分多いだろうなー。
すぐ馴染めるかな？勝手に馴染みにかかると思うけど。笑
でもまずは色んな友達の顔がまた見たいかな。
